The Conscious Style Guide by Karen Yin is an excellent companion to the website, but not a good stand alone. It's great for foundational information and for learning a baseline philosophy for editing and writing. I definitely recommend it, but use it with the website. Here's why: the website is an organic, ever-updated resource that links to many other resources related to any given question you may have as a writer or editor in ever-evolving written and linguistic environments. What's especially wonderful about conscious style overall is that it's informed by those who create and participate in written language around the world. As cognizance evolves, so does the information available on the website. So, buy the book, read it, and then use it as a tool within the greater toolbox of its origin online.

I've been a fan of the author for years because of her thoughtful and kind approach to language. She is always my go-to when I have questions about language, and I appreciate having this new resource available.
