These are INCREDIBLE books to both enjoy and to use for a wide variety of teaching techniques. The way Kate DiCamillo develops her storyline, heightens character development, and implements enough rhythm for a struggling reader to find success is delightful. Chris Van Dusen is the perfect complement to her talent with TONS of details hidden within the illustrations. I use his images to teach my students how to 'picture read,' infer, and predict the story so that when we read Kate's creative text, my students can make wise, confident choices in word solving. These are the best teaching tools I have yet to find... and a child feels so proud that s/he can show that they have read a chapter book. THANK YOU, Kate and Chris!!!

Very disappointed. The series started with book two. Where is book one!

Kate DiCamillo is awesome, a'course, and sure there's a mercenary angle, prolly from the publisher — 'say, Katy ... d'ya think you cd write some books for younger readers?' — but the one thing you might want to note here is it's not going to come in a box. It's not a 'boxed' set — it's a '6 Books Set'.That is what it says, so it delivers on that 'promise' but it also means they weren't willing to spend another 50 cents on a box for six books that in early readers' hands will surely be strewn about the bedroom.If you have six books, there shd be a box.

These books are cute. My 11 yo and my 21 yo daughter have enjoyed them.
