In my library, good books are well-thumbed and written over--I have conversations with the author in the margins. And -this- is a good book!I'm not much of a preface-and-introduction reader, I like to get the to the meat straightaway, but I always start reading the preface just in case, and Roberts didn't disappoint. I was already underlining by the third page. Here's just an example of what you'll discover and cipher through--VUCA scenarios. Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous situations. These is real life, and more and more real life is in our classrooms. Rather than hide, or try to shut them out, why not embrace all that life is so that our students come out richer and wiser as well as educated in the traditional sense of that word?I honestly couldn't put the book down. Roberts includes stories, self-confessions, practical application and exciting theory which he has actually tried out himself and divulges the results. I have already started to incorporate what I learned into my own teaching with excellent results. And BONUS, this is not a long book. Eminently readable, meaty, and beneficial for any teacher regardless of classroom venue or student profile.
