Very well documented for public sector project managers.

I am a masters student in Information Studies and bought this book to help appreciate the specific problems faced by public library systems in running successful projects. I am thankful to David for writing an outstanding handbook and text. Very rarely do you come across a definitive or iconic text - I can think of Gujerati on basic econometrics or Orwell on writing plain English - but this one deserves the attention of all academic course designers. It is a comprehensive treatment of the key issues, and applies well to the public sector experience in all English speaking countries and not just in the US. Once more, thank you to David.

I am a PhD candidate at University of São Paulo and my research is related to IT Projects in the Public Sector. This book is very instructive and it was very useful for the literature review of my thesis.This book is also very applicable to my own work as a Project Manager in the public sector. I am a certified PMP® since 2005 and I recently move to the public sector.The author is very competent in highlighting the main differences between the public and private sectors. The book explains very logically why it is more difficult to manage a project in the conflicting environment usually found in Government projects.
