This is an excellent textbook by Hill & Lynn. I adopted the book for my online Public Management MPA class and it presents a comprehensive overview of American political and administrative system from a three-dimensional perspective. The first edition was good but the organization of the book was far from perfect. Most of those imperfections were fixed in the second edition. Nonetheless, the book is heavier on the structure dimension and weaker on the craft dimension. I would love to see more in-depth discussions about leadership theories in the craft.
