Loved this book. Fast moving. I was intrigued from page one. It also gave insight to the Ukrainian war. My God these people have suffered!!

Very interesting story line through difficult political times

Excellent story of true life in the East. Do the West nowadays really understand about poverty and no freedom in life

I received the book too late as I had already borrowed it from a friend and did not like it. It was for my book club. It came from India, so I will not send it back.

Amazing story of the Ukrainian people as they desperately try to preserve their identity and way of life during the brutal assault by outside forces during the 20th century. The story graphically depicts the lives of everyday Ukrainians as they struggle and suffer under the tyranny of the Russian revolution through the oppressive reigns of Stalin and Hitler. Hard to read at times but highly informative as to the struggles of these people. No wonder they are so desperate and determined in their struggle, now in 2025, to prevent being overrun by Russia again.
