ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison during the mid-1980s, my first work-study job was at DARE, located at the Wisconsin Historical Society building on campus. It was a dream job for someone who loves language and history. The published dictionaries themselves are fascinating and insightful, providing a window into the linguistic richness and vagaries of the American English language and its usage. Highly recommend for language lovers and those interested in local and regional terms.
My husband is a linguist and I bought this book on his behalf. He found it very useful in his research and writing.
Good shape and clean
Thank you!
I purchased the entire series and am awed at the detail. I made a contribution in 1985 and my name is actually in the list of contributors in the 2012 edition! It has become an excellent resource in my work in the local community theatre.
