Beautiful

I loved reading this book. The story was told with such feeling and emotional words that I felt as if I was there. I could not just hear the birds, smell the peaches, but also touch the land. My heart was with Victoria on every page. It is so honest and true to the nature of man. The intense betrayal of the First People resonated within Wil. The deep love they shared as teens, first time love, reminded me of my own youth and the strength of those bonds. Thank you feels inadequate to say... But thank you Shelley Read.

Go As A Reader - It's a Great Debut Novel!

My family has been vacationing in the San Juan Mountains and the surrounding areas for the last 55 years. It was refreshing to listen to an audiobook about familiar areas, and to learn some history about the Blue Mesa Reservoir. I enjoyed the book and look forward to attending an event in Lake City, CO later this month with Shelley Read as the speaker.

Heart-wrenching and heart-warming all in one, this is a lovely and beautiful story of a mother and son and the decision that changed both their lives. The author does a wonderful job of describing the incredible Colorado landscape and brings the past back to life, before Blue Mesa reservoir existed. I don’t read a lot of fiction, but I enjoyed this book immensely.
