ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Muy buen contenido. Recomendable.
The authors are clearly very knowledgeable with a lot of experience to share. The book opens with a great anecdote that inspires the reader and makes for an enjoyable start. Unfortunately, I did find myself speed reading a little at times. I imagine this book would have been great a few years ago, when it was first published. The digital world has moved so quickly in the last 2 years that there is something in each chapter that felt outdated and would take my focus off the author's point. Still worth a read and if an updated copy is released I'd probably read it.
Digital Sense isn't your typical '10-step' book that provides light, generalized advice on building a social media presence. Instead, it's a intense, thoughtful and process-oriented book that provides businesses with tools to put deep thought into their digital marketing strategy, deeply focused on customer experience.Organized into five sections (Overview, Building a Customer-Centric Organization, Social Business Strategies and Tactics, Data and Automation, Future-Proofing), the real meat of this book is Section II. Wright and Snook take you through a number of exercises and a framework, EMF (Experience Marketing Framework), to align your business strategies and objectives "to the priority needs of your customer." The guiding principles of this framework really focus on what marketers need to do in today's increasingly data-driven marketing landscape--using direct customer knowledge to drive tactics, measuring results, strategy = vision realized, and systematizing innovation (and ongoing change). The series of exercises in Section II then lead to different Social Strategies and Tactics for Marketing, Sales, Advocates, HR, and Customer Service. I think this section is the 'lightest' in the book. The authors touch on important points in each section (e.g. ABM for Sales), but it's clear that each chapter could be a book on its own. That's okay, since practitioners will delve into each of these areas (and work further) as they plan and implement social strategies for their organizations. A book can't be all things to all people. On the tail end, the authors talk about tools and technologies in the Marketing Stack as well as Future-Proofing your business. Again, these chapters are lighter than the heft up front, but are useful to provoke thought towards a deeper dive.I like the depth of this book in creating a deep understanding of customer personas and aligning strategy with those personas. This book delivers on both theory and practice. Instead of a quick fix, the authors provide a methodology for marketers to use to develop knowledge-based, customer-centric strategies that deeply impact product, messaging and (most importantly) measurable results. Some light areas of coverage move it from five stars to four, but this book is definitely a worthwhile read.
I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas at her request and she likes it alot. She says it is very helpful and informative.
I really enjoyed it! We read it in my Digital Marketing MBA class. The anecdotes are engaging and applicable, the authors incorporate social media references, and there are some genuinely humorous moments. One of my classmates sent an email to the authors regarding the book, and they ended up doing a video conference call with our class! I will definitely be keeping this book readily available for reference.PS: no guarantee they will have a video conference call with you. We are pretty special.
