This book brought together a very good chronological order of how Romme started and finally dissolved away. Information throughout the history of Rome is very good and giving specific information of how it became a world power.

Very detailed. Knowledge seemed good, but it was overwhelming. Didn't quite finish it. Read it aloud with my husband as we were going to visit Rome.

Nothing too deep here- but well written; takes a few pivotal points in Roman history and expands on them (not sure why Nero among all the dysfunctional sociopath emperors to choose from). For a better account of the fall of the Empire, I'd read a book like Peter Heather's instead. And this author (like many others) often presents mere theories or assumptions as fact. But it was a good read all the same.
