Dense and boring

What I thought would be a book about the rich and interesting history of oil turned out to be a deep dive into perhaps the most minute aspects of the oil industry that I could have imagined. The pages are oversaturated with accounts and quotes that are not in contemporary English, nor are the accounts broken down and explained. The author uses the names of old countries and regions without identifying the modern-day areas. Certain sections would be very interesting, and then there would be a 100 page stretch that was nearly impossible to read because it was so dull. I was very disappointed with this book and the content.
