Martin Silenus is undoubtedly the most stubborn man to ever live— and he's also my favorite.Dan Simmons creates a world in great detail with mechanics that I still think about because of their intrigue. Within the covers, God and AI are thoroughly wrestled with, the absurdity and uses caused by time travel and portals are explored, the physical human implications of accelerating faster than C are dealt with by practical bio-engineering rather than mysticism, and deep philosophical concepts are put on display for a riveted audience.Read them, and you'll enjoy them. :)

This book series describes the technology of the future. It definitely deserves credit for explaining where robotics is heading and how the collective electronic brains in these machines will have to work. But the book is mostly about an epic travels of several people who will try to prevent galactic war. The book is long winded but will paint the future for you. The first book “Hyperion” is the long beginning but necessary to begin with. It’s a deep thought book. Sometimes too deep and overly complex. But it’s impressive nonetheless. You can’t just read the beginning book and walk away from this long complex story. I’m on book two. The author doesn’t stop to explain anything. You have to figure things out as it develops. I think I need some Cliff notes at times but it’s an epic story of future generations.

Superb series!

An absolutely wonderful series. Was difficult for me at first to switch from one perspective to another and trying to understand where the story was going, but with every chapter and every book my understanding grew and as new things and twists came up I was drawn back in memory to previous circumstances. Beautifully done.

Actual review is on the first book and is 4..5 stars. The first 21 pages tore out like a notepad due to poo based manufacturing quality.
